* the Origin of Scientific name : It's from Eryngium because it has peculiar characteristics that this mushroom is grown by generating the disease in the root of Erynalium campestre.

the origin of king oyster mushroom : This is an edible mushroom native to Mediterranean regions of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, but also grown in parts of Asia. It's a kind of white wood fungus, also known as big oyster mushroom. It was classified as agaricus bisporus in 1975 and reclassified as agaricales in 1986. It was named as king oyster mushroom by Institute of Agriculture and Life Sciences. But considering its particular taste and the effect that the name of new species would make on consumers' feeling, it was named as 'Sae-song-i-beo-seot' in south Gyeongsang province. 
 


 

 

 

 

The scientific name is Pleurotus Eryngii and is a kind of white fungus classified as Basidiomycota-Agaricomycetes-Agaricales-Pleurotaceae-Pleurotus. The general name is King Oyster Mushroom or Boletus of the Steppes. Most oyster mushroom grow naturally on dead hardwood or branch, but king oyster mushroom grows as a parasite on such plants as cherry tree or oak tree. The original home is south Europe area and also it grows in North Africa, Central Asia and in the southern regions of the former USSR.
